Makya has been working with us as a Community Connector since October of 2023. Her Connector career started directly after taking a 12 week course (through CommunityWorks) centered around Asset Based Community Development and its importance. Makya has since discovered a passion in building community and bringing neighborhoods together. Makya is currently a junior at Grand Valley State University, pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Psychology. In her free time she loves to read, write, and spend lots of time with her baby boy.
